A compact and simple plate from the %porcelain series, designed for everyday use at the table. Light in weight yet solid in form, it suits small servings, side dishes and daily meals with ease.

Both the interior and exterior are glazed, while the rim is left unglazed so the natural texture of the clay can be felt directly. With regular use, the unglazed rim gradually develops a gentle sheen and becomes smoother over time.

The rim has a reassuring thickness, giving the plate a strong and durable build for everyday use. It moves easily from the home table to camping or picnics.

Expertly crafted by Maruasa Porcelain Factory in Tajimi, Gifu, Japan.

Please note:
As shown in the photos, the plates may have slight variations in colour due to the handmade process, and small pinholes may occasionally appear in the glaze. These are natural characteristics of handmade ceramics and do not affect the use or durability of the piece.

%porcelain — Designed for Daily Use

%porcelain is a high-density porcelain series developed by Maruasa Porcelain Factory in Gifu, Japan. Fired at 1300°C for over 24 hours using reduction firing, the clay body becomes exceptionally strong while retaining a soft, natural texture.

The reduction process draws out subtle depth in tone and density within the material. The surface feels gently matte at first, gradually becoming smoother and more luminous with daily use. Designed for everyday living — simple, functional, and quietly refined.

A Century in Every Mug

Founded in 1916 in Tajimi, Gifu, Maruasa began when Asaichi Matsubara established the kiln and focused early on producing coffee and tea cups & saucers - among the first in Japan to specialise in this field.

In 1991, under the third generation, the company shifted from large-scale mass production to a smaller, more diverse style of manufacturing.

Today, Maruasa Porcelain Factory continues to shape porcelain in Tajimi, guided by a century-long dedication to the craft.
