This lightweight shawl is made from 100% cotton mosquito net fabric (kaya-ori), a breathable textile traditionally woven in Nara. Generously sized yet airy, it can be worn around the neck, draped over the shoulders, or used in a variety of ways throughout the day.

Naturally cool and quick to dry, it’s ideal for summer air-conditioning, sun protection, or carrying with you when you’re on the move. Despite its size, the open weave keeps it light and comfortable to wear.

Machine washable (use a laundry net), it’s easy to care for and can be used without worry, even on warmer days. With use and washing, the fabric softens further, becoming gentle on the skin — a hallmark of mosquito net cotton.

Crafted by Ban Inoue, this piece reflects a long tradition of functional, everyday textiles designed to age beautifully with time.

Each piece is washed after sewing. As a result, the texture and size may vary slightly from item to item. With washing and regular use, some natural change in dimensions may occur. Please enjoy the gentle wrinkles and variations as part of the fabric’s character.

When washing for the first time to remove the starch, soak in water or lukewarm water, taking care that the fringes do not overlap.
