"Kyoto: The Great Bridge at Sanjō” is a landmark print by Utagawa Hiroshige, created around 1833–1834 as part of his celebrated series, The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō.

The scene captures travellers crossing the long wooden Sanjō Bridge over the Kamo River, the final stop along the Tōkaidō road into Kyoto. Figures move steadily across the bridge, carrying goods and belongings, while beyond them the soft outline of the Higashiyama foothills and Mount Hiei rises in the distance. There is a quiet sense of arrival in the composition — a moment where movement slows, and the landscape begins to open into the city ahead. Hiroshige balances the energy of travel with a gentle stillness that gives the scene its enduring calm.

Printed and framed in Australia, the artwork is presented in a natural timber frame that complements the traditional character of the piece.

The artwork is UV printed directly onto a smooth satin surface, allowing it to be displayed without glass. This finish reduces reflections and can be lightly dusted or wiped clean, making it an easy and practical piece to display on your wall.
